Can Security Cameras Work Without WiFi?
Yes—but “without WiFi” can describe very different things. A camera may save footage to a memory card without an internet connection, let a nearby phone connect directly, or use a cellular data plan for remote access. The right choice depends on whether you need to collect recordings later or check the camera while you are somewhere else.

An AP hotspot is a local connection between a phone and the camera. It does not, by itself, connect the camera to the wider internet. Offline recording also does not mean that remote notifications continue to work.
When a compact offline camera makes sense
