WiFi, AP Hotspot or Offline Recording? A C08 Mode Guide
Choose the C08 mode by where you will be when you want to see the footage. Use WiFi mode for remote app access through a supported internet connection, AP hotspot mode for a direct connection while nearby, or offline mode to record to a memory card and review the footage later.
These are three different workflows. Before choosing one, decide whether you need an immediate alert, a nearby view or a recording you can retrieve after returning. This guide uses the UCOCARE C08 mini camera as the example.
What each C08 mode is for

WiFi mode: for checking from another location
Suppose you want to check on your pet while you are at work. The camera at home needs a supported WiFi connection with internet access. Your phone also needs connectivity to reach the service. A saved WiFi password alone is not enough if the router or internet service is down.
Before relying on remote viewing, set up the camera using its instructions, then test from a different internet connection. Confirm that you can see the live view and, if you want alerts, that the app has notification permission. This distinguishes an actual remote-access test from a phone that is still connected locally.
AP hotspot mode: a nearby phone-to-camera connection
AP mode is useful when you are near the camera but there is no usable router. The camera creates a local wireless connection for your phone. The phone may report that this connection has no internet; that describes the local network, not necessarily a camera fault.
Do not plan to leave the location and continue viewing through that same direct connection. Walls, placement and distance affect whether your phone remains connected. Check the view from the position where you intend to use it, rather than assuming a particular range.
Follow the C08 instructions for selecting AP mode and connecting the app. A phone's mobile hotspot is a separate feature; turning it on does not automatically put the camera into AP mode.
Offline mode: plan the recording and retrieval together
Offline recording suits a situation where you can return to collect footage. For example, you might want to review activity around your own indoor storage shelf after a delivery, without needing an immediate phone alert.
The current C08 listing supports microSD cards up to 128GB, and a memory card is not included. Check the card requirements for the camera, insert it as instructed, and make a short recording before leaving the setup unattended. Confirm how you will play back and export that recording.
Loop recording can replace older files as the card fills. Copy footage you want to keep to another device before it is overwritten. Card capacity alone does not tell you how many days will be retained: recording settings, activity and file size matter.
A useful first-use check
- Choose the viewing goal. Write down whether you need remote access, nearby viewing or later playback.
- Prepare storage. If recording locally, confirm the card is recognized and a saved clip opens.
- Test the selected connection. For WiFi, test remotely; for AP, test from your intended nearby position.
- Check power. The C08 has a 1400mAh rechargeable battery and supports recording while charging. Runtime depends on settings and conditions.
- Check placement. Keep the lens unobstructed and use an appropriate indoor location where you have permission to record.
Magnetic mounting makes repositioning convenient, but a small camera is not automatically suitable for exposed outdoor installation. Choose placement and power access together.
Which mode should you choose?
Need to check from work or another location? Start with WiFi mode and a reliable connection at the camera. Staying close to the camera? AP mode may fit. Only need footage later? Prepare offline recording and a dependable retrieval routine.

Questions before buying
Can offline mode alert me while I am away?
No. Offline recording does not supply the internet connection needed for remote phone notifications.
Does AP mode give the camera internet access?
No, not by itself. It is the local connection between a nearby phone and the camera.
Does the current C08 package include a card?
No. Budget for a compatible microSD card separately. Packages described in older or other-market reviews can differ.
