A70 Two-Camera vs Four-Camera Kit: Plan Coverage, Hub and Storage
Choose a two-camera or four-camera kit by the number of separate views you need at the same time. A pan-and-tilt camera can look in different directions, but it cannot see through a corner or guarantee an uninterrupted view of two opposite entrances while it turns.
The UCOCARE A70 is offered as a two-camera kit and a four-camera kit, both with a base station. This planning guide helps you choose a starting size, place the hub and test the system before committing to permanent mounting positions.
Draw the routes before counting cameras
Sketch the building and mark the points you actually need to check: front entrance, driveway, side gate, rear door or outbuilding. For each point, write a specific requirement, such as “see who reaches the side gate” or “follow the route from driveway to porch.”
Next, mark walls, corners, vehicles and vegetation that can block a view. Two close locations on a map may require separate cameras if a wall stands between them. Conversely, one well-placed camera may cover two nearby points in the same open scene, provided the important subjects remain large enough in the saved image.

What the current A70 kits have in common
Both listings specify 3840 × 2160 video, a supplied base station with 64GB local storage expandable to 128GB, and support for up to eight compatible cameras per base station. They also describe linking detected activity across cameras into an event timeline.
That expansion figure is not a promise that any third-party camera will pair with the hub. Confirm the compatible add-on model and availability before buying a smaller kit with a later expansion in mind. Eight supported cameras also does not establish eight simultaneous full-resolution live streams; the listings describe viewing up to four live feeds together.
The main decision in this comparison is the supplied camera count. Check the exact package at purchase, especially if accessories or regional versions change.
Place the base station for a real building
The A70 two-camera listing describes up to 300 metres of coverage in open areas. A house with masonry, metal doors, foil insulation or a detached garage is a different environment. Treat the open-area range as a stated condition, not a guaranteed radius through walls.
Put the hub in a practical indoor location with the required power and network connection, then try each camera at its proposed position before drilling. Shut the doors that will normally be closed. Check live view and save a test event from every camera.
Dense construction and interference affect wireless links; TP-Link explains the general effect of obstacles on wireless range. That guidance supports testing placement, but does not establish A70 compatibility with a particular extender or networking accessory. Also, “5G” beside 2.4GHz in a WiFi listing means the 5GHz WiFi band, not a cellular SIM service.
One hub means shared storage planning
Local hub storage puts the recordings in a different place from the outdoor camera, which can be useful if a camera is removed. It is still important to protect the hub and copy important clips elsewhere. Local storage is not automatically an off-site backup.
Adding more active cameras usually means more files competing for the available storage. An advertised retention period depends on activity and recording settings; it should not be read as a guaranteed number of days for every four-camera property. After normal use, check the oldest available event and compare that with how long you need to keep footage.
Test a journey across the property
- Name cameras by location, such as “Front door” and “Side gate.” Check that their displayed dates and times are correct.
- Have a consenting person walk a realistic route between those areas, pausing where an actual visitor would pause.
- Review each saved clip and the linked event presentation, where available. Look for useful continuity, rather than assuming the timeline contains every second.
- Check what happens while a camera tracks away from its usual direction. Confirm it returns to the position you need.
- Repeat after dark and check the next day's battery condition. A good daylight view does not verify the complete installation.
Which kit is the better fit?
Start with two cameras when two tested views cover the essential routes. Choose four when four separate areas need dependable coverage at the same time. If the problem is an obstructed link, poor lighting or a subject that is too small in the image, solve that problem before adding camera count.
